Keke Palmer, Demi Moore, LaKeith Stanfield And Naomi Ackie To Star In Boots Riley’s Next Movie ‘I Love Boosters’ At Neon

Boots Riley looks to have found his next project and has landed quite the ensemble, as sources tell Deadline he is partnering with Neon on his film I Love Boosters. Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, LaKeith Stanfield and Demi Moore are set to star, with additional casting underway. Principal photography set to begin this fall.

Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett are producing on behalf of Ryder Picture Company along with Savage Rose Films’ Allison Rose Carter and Jon Read. Mike Jackman, Gus Deardoff, Ken Kao, Josh Rosenbaum, Annapurna and Neon will serve as executive producers. Neon is financing the film with Waypoint Entertainment and will handle the worldwide rights.

The film centers on a ring of enterprising boosters (aka shoplifters, equal opportunists) who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven. Additional plot details are under wraps.

Riley is a multihyphenate working across film and music as a director, producer and screenwriter. He is best-known for his 2018 feature debut Sorry to Bother You, starring Stanfield and Tessa Thompson. Riley also created the Amazon original miniseries I’m a Virgo with Jharrel Jerome in the leading role.

Palmer most recently starred in Jordan Peele’s Nope, which earned her accolades for the performance. She also appears in Alice from Krystin Ver Linden, Lorene Scafaria’s Hustlers alongside Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez, and opposite Jimmy Fallon in Password. Her book Master of Me will be released next month via Flatiron.

Ackie broke through in William Oldroyd’s Lady Macbeth alongside Florence Pugh, earning her the British Independent Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer. She has gone on to portray singer Whitney Houston in the biopic I Wanna Dance with Somebody, and recently starred in Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut Blink Twice. Next up she has Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17 alongside Robert Pattinson.

Stanfield most recently starred in Sony and Legendary’s The Book of Clarence, Disney’s The Haunted Mansion, and he starred in and executive produced the Apple TV+ series The Changeling. He also lent his voice to the documentary Ernest Cole: Lost and Found, which premiered this year at Cannes.

Moore’s credits include St. Elmo’s Fire, G.I. Jane, A Few Good Men and Ghost, the latter of which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She most recently starred in the second season of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans and is getting raves for her work in the body horror feature The Substance, in theaters now. Upcoming for her is the Paramount+ drama Landman from Taylor Sheridan.

Neon most recently released Osgood Perkins’ horror film Longlegs, which just surpassed $75 million in the U.S. box office to become the year’s highest-grossing independent film to date, and Immaculate starring Sydney Sweeney. Upcoming releases include Sean Baker’s Anora starring Mikey Madison that won the Palme d’Or in Cannes, and The Seed of the Sacred Fig from director Mohammad Rasoulof.

RPC is prepping Michael Sarnoski’s The Death of Robin Hood, with Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer, and Onslaught from Adam Wingard, under its first-look with Lyrical Media. The company recently premiered the sci-fi romance All of You with Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots at this year’s Toronto Film Festival.

Savage Rose producing partners Allison Rose Carter and Jon Read have produced and co-produced more than 25 films including The Daniels’ Best Picture Oscar winner Everything Everywhere All at Once and recently inked a production and development partnership with Neon.
